Raja Ampat 2025

Raja Ampat - Indonesien

In April 2025, we spent two weeks in the breathtaking Raja Ampat, staying at the Papua Paradise Eco Resort on Birie Island. This little paradise was nestled in the Dampier Strait, one of the world’s richest marine ecosystems.

We dived in small groups, usually with only four divers per boat, which had allowed for a very personal diving experience. Mornings usually included two-tank dives, with a single afternoon dive often added.

Many of our dives took place right off the coast of Birie Island, where we discovered healthy coral reefs, schools of colorful reef fish, and occasional surprises like wobbegongs or pygmy seahorses.

The true highlights were the day trips to more distant dive sites:
• Cape Kri, with the famous dive site Blue Magic, where manta rays often glided gracefully through the blue.
• Fam Islands, known for spectacular spots like Melissa’s Garden, a sprawling coral garden bursting with colors.
• Mansuar Island, featuring the popular dive site Sawandarek Jetty, where massive fish schools, stunning soft corals, and frequent turtle encounters awaited us. Under the jetty, huge clouds of snapper and jacks gathered, while carpet sharks or fascinating critters often hid on the sandy bottom.

Beyond diving, the region offered breathtaking views above water too. A trip to the legendary Piaynemo Viewpoint had been a must. From the top, we enjoyed a stunning view of the famous karst islands and turquoise lagoons – the scenery that has made Raja Ampat world-famous.

This journey offered us unforgettable underwater adventures and incredible natural beauty – exactly what makes a diver’s heart beat faster!
